As part of Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival 2014 and funded by Lanarkshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership and South Lanarkshire Choose Life, MTGP was approached regarding the development of a drama to highlight the many unique and varied attendee experiences of MTGP and how MTGP supports and becomes a part of many of the communities it targets.
The newly formed ‘CUPI Youth Drama Group’ volunteered to act and participate in the development of a stage script.
The play is set in the future when football has been banned and is based on a variety of true MTGP experiences. The script is very much a labour of love by the young people with many of them performing in front of a live audience for the first time.
2 sold out performances took place within the East Kilbride Arts Centre on 17 October 2014. Several partners attended the performances which were of an extremely high standard with profits assisting the group to carry out further dramas in the future.

Imagine if the beautiful game was suddenly outlawed in Scotland and the wearing of colours, scarves and football shirts were banned. Working with playwright Glen Dickson and community drama worker Jen Smith, the C.U.P.I. Drama Group explore these issues combining facts with fiction. The play tells the story of the amazing Move the Goal Posts initiative. Comic, thought provoking and very entertaining….
Following their success with the MTGP drama, CUPI Youth Drama Group have now wrote, performed and produced a short film with the assistance of partners titled ‘Scarfed for Life’ targeting sectarianism . The film premiered at the Vue Cinema in Hamilton. They have gone onto do several other dramas and successful pantomimes.
