Personal Outcomes

Moving The Goalposts allows individuals to achieve long term goals through attending. Here is just a few of the many attendees that MTGP has helped.

Brogan, 17

Brogan and her sister Kodie (19) regularly attended Moving The Goalposts when it was in their area and dedicate MTGP coaches for enhancing their skills and assisting them to play professionally with Glasgow City, Scotland’s leading ladies football team. Both sisters have gone onto represent Scotland at international youth level and are seen as having potential to become full Scotland internationals.

Brogan and Kodie’s mother would regularly contact MTGP to identify what locations they were operating so that her daughters and son could attend to continue their football education whilst keeping her children away from potential problems at their home in Fernhill.

Brogan has recently broken into the first team at Glasgow City scoring many important goals. Glasgow City Ladies won their 10th league title in a row in the 2016 season and also reached 2 national cup finals. They were involved in the highest scoring match of the season when they beat East Kilbride in a Scottish Cup match 26-0 with Brogan scoring a hat-trick. Glasgow City represented Scotland in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Brogan making her European debut in the Round of 32 against Eskilstuna United of Sweden.

Jamie, 30

Jamie was a former professional football player at a young age. When his contract was not renewed, he struggled with life, fell out of love with football and was by his own admissions ‘totally dissatisfied and had nowhere to go’. He began drinking and getting into trouble.

One night Jamie was drinking with friends when he stumbled upon the MTGP pitch. MTGP’s coaches encouraged him to participate and he stayed the evening. MTGP began mentoring Jamie on a 1-1 basis, encouraging him to stop drinking, improve his lifestyle choices and re-discover his football passion. Jamie’s fitness and confidence improved dramatically and he displayed all the necessary temperament, skills and ability to be a successful MTGP coach.

Jamie began volunteering with MTGP. He displayed great aptitude and a genuine desire to help others and was offered employment with MTGP. Over a 4 year period Jamie’s life was transformed. He gained his coaching qualifications and completed a BSc in Sports Coaching and a postgraduate certificate in Community Development.

He spent the next 3 years playing professional football abroad in Vancouver and Melbourne but did not give up his coaching and regularly taught in schools whilst abroad and kept in regular touch with MTGP.

On his return to Scotland in 2013, Jamie enrolled on an MSc International Management course at University whilst returning to coaching with MTGP.  He began playing football at junior level, culminating in captaining Glanafton to the final of the Scottish Junior Cup Final in 2013-14. Jamie was responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of the ‘Moving On Project’, a 6 week training and qualification course for individuals undergoing Community Payback Orders which proved highly successful.

He graduated in June 2015 and gained sought after employment on the ‘Mitie Graduate Management Scheme’ in London who are a FTSE 250 group. He has now has a full time position with Delotte as a Contract Performance Manager.

Jamie Says…

‘I can’t thank MTGP and their excellent coaches enough. Without them I would not be where I am today. I have managed to totally turn my life around but know I wouldn’t have been able to do so without their help. MTGP has helped me on numerous occasions as the coaches are always available to give advice or support.

The experiences I gained from working with MTGP assisted me in gaining an excellent job with great prospects. I believe that without MTGP and the encouragement and confidence they gave me to try new things, I would not be where I am today.

I am being developed to take over the Operations management of the London Campus, responsible for 6 buildings that house up to10000 staff and I have aspirations to continue to climb the ladder at Mitie onto regional director level as Managing Director of one of the smaller services lines!

My involvement with MTGP provided me with experience that has served to promote my development as a manager and I would not have been able to progress to my current position without the support of everyone at MTGP’.  Jamie

Jordan, 17

Jordan is a former MTGP attendee who along with the support of his parents and MTGP’s coaches became the youngest player to play first team professional football when he was only 14. His parents would ‘follow’ MTGP to their next location and bring Jordan to further his football education and to keep him from trouble that his friends were getting into.

Jordan became the youngest professional footballer to play first team football when he was just 14. He signed a 4 year professional contract with Wolves who play in the English Championship. Jordan also featured in a 2 page national newspaper article focusing on Jordan’s potential to be a Scottish international player.

Jordan is proving to have the skills and abilities to go much further. He and his parents firmly believe that without the invaluable input from MTGP’s coaches, he would not be in the position he is at present. Jordan plays professionally for Wolves whilst also receiving notable praise from a wide range of football experts and former players who predict that he could become a national football star and is widely regarded as ‘one to watch’.
